Ivory Coast 1-1 Cameroon: Amad scores for Elephants in draw

Manchester United winger, Amad Diallo, scored his second goal of the Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) 2025 as defending champions, Ivory Coast, finished 1-1 with Cameroon in the showdown between two heavyweights in the city of Marrakech on Sunday 28 December, 2025.

After a goalless first 45 minutes, Franck Kessie’s goal was chalked off by Video Assistant Referee (VAR) for offside in the 48th minute, but, Amad’s curled effort, provided by Ghislain Konan, placed the Elephants in front in the 51st minute.

It was Amad who netted the only goal for Ivory Coast in their lone goal win over Mozambique in the opener. His strike against the Indomitable Lions was part of a series of action that started the second half.

Cameroon had a shot that hit the woodwork by debutant Christian Kofane in the first half; five (5) minutes after Amad’s opener, the Cameroonians levelled after Konan hit the back of his own net.

All four (4) teams in Group F will play their third and final matches on Wednesday 31 December, 2025 at 19:00 (WAT). Ivory Coast and Cameroon will slug it out with Gabon and Mozambique in Marrakesh and Agadir respectively.

Carlos Baleba, who features for Premier League side, Brighton and Hove Albion, was a driving force in the midfield of the Indomitable Lions.

Epassy made a crucial save to stop Seko Fofana from heading Ivory Coast back in front and Manchester United forward, Bryan Mbeumo, fired a shot narrowly wide late on.
