At Hill Dickson Stadium, a penalty by Swedish striker, Viktor Gyökeres, was all Arsenal needed to emerge victorious by a lone goal in the Premier League clash against Everton on Saturday 20 December, 2025.
The slim victory ensured Mikel Arteta’s Gunners remained at the summit of the Premier League 2025/26 on Christmas Day.
In the 26th minute, the Sweden International shot the ball into the net from the penalty spot to hand Arsenal all crucial three (3) points; the penalty was awarded to the visitors after Everton defender, Jake O’Brien, handled the ball inside the box from a corner.
The goal from 12 yards was Gyökeres’ seventh for Arsenal.
The Gunners struck the woodwork twice through Leandro Trossard and Martin Zubimendi in the second half, but, the one goal was all Arsenal needed to reclaime their top spot on the table after Manchester City had taken it briefly following an easy 3-0 triumph over West Ham United earlier on Saturday.
The 2025/26 is Mikel Arteta’s sixth season in control of Arsenal Football Club; under his guide last campaign, the two showdowns between both sides finished level.
