Chelsea stood firm for a 1-1 draw against Premier League 2025/26 toppers, Arsenal, despite Moises Caicedo’s first-half red card in a smoldering London derby at Stamford Bridge on Sunday 30 November, 2025.
Caicedo had a yellow card upgraded to a red following a VAR check for a studs-up challenge on Mikel Merino as he became the fourth Chelsea player to be sent off this season.
Despite being shortened to ten men in the 38th minute, Enzo Maresca’s Blues fought on and took the lead in the 48th minutes through Trevor Chalobah, who converted Reece James’ assist.
But, the pressure from Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal paid off when Mikel Merino found the back of the net with an assist from winger, Bukayo Saka, in the 59th minute.
With the leveller, it appeared as it the visitors were well positioned to cruise past a 10-man Blues, but, they struggled to create clear chances.
The hosts were unhappy after Gunners defender Piero Hincapie was only shown the yellow card for an elbow which got Chalobah’s cheek bruised.
