Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen, netted a hat-trick as Turkish Süper Lig club, Galatasaray, handed Dutch Eredivisie club, Ajax, their fourth straight defeat in the Uefa Champions League 2025/26 League Phase at Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam on Wednesday 5 November, 2025.
The Nigeria international raised his European tally to six (6) goals this season as he opened the scoring for the Yellow-Reds in the 59th minute before firing home two from the penalty spot in the 66th and 78th minutes.
26-year old Osimhen is now the top scorer in the League Phase of the Uefa Champions League 2025/26, one goal in front of Bayern Munich English forward, Harry Kane, Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and Real Madrid’s Kylian Mbappe.
Galatasaray have moved up to ninth and closed in on a place in the top eight, where teams seal automatic progress to the knockout round.
Osimhen, with his hat-trick, reached twenty-five (25) goals in European competition and has risen above former Inter Milan and Newcastle forward Obafemi Martins to emerge Nigeria’s all-time top scorer in Europe.
The outcome leaves Ajax below at the bottom of the table, with the Dutch side having lost all four (4) of their Champions League games by an aggregate score of 14-1.
