Ramos late winner for PSG down Barcelona in Champions League

Goncalo Ramos netted the late winner for Paris Saint-Germaine (PSG) to hand the French side a 2-1 victory over Barcelona in the Uefa Champions League 2025/26 League Phase at Estadi Olímpic Lluis Companys on Wednesday 1 October, 2025.

Hansi Flick’s Barcelona took the lead in the 19th minute when Ferran Torres converted Manchester United loanee, Marcus Rashford’s beautiful low ball from the left.

But, defending champions, PSG, who carted a treble last season including French league and cup titles – equalized when Nuno Mendes found Senny Mayulu after a fine run and the 19-year-old found the back of the net in the 38th minute.

Luis Enrique’s Les Parisiens, who fielded without a couple of top players due to injuries, had the best chances to emerge victorious in the game, and managed to do so with Ramos’ first-time finish from Achraf Hakimi’s cross very late, in the 90th minute.

Rashford, England forward, has scored or assisted a goal in five (5) of Barcelona’s last six (6) games.

Winner scorer, Ramos, in his post-victory comments, said: “I think we deserved the win. We played better than them. We played our game.

“We want to win everything again. We’re not happy with just what we did last season. We want more.”

The outcome takes PSG to six (6) points from two encounters, with Barca on three (3).
