On Saturday 27 September, 2025, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) mounted a Guard of Honour for Late Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Solomon Ehigiator Arase, whose remains departed for Edo State.
Arase passed on Sunday 31 August, 2025 after a brief illness at Cedarcrest Hospital, Abuja.
As the NPF bids a “poignant” farewell to the former IGP, Kayode Egbetokun, current IGP, described Arase as “an officer with enviable strength of character”.

According to the Nigeria Police Force (NPF): “The Nigeria Police Force today mounted a Guard of Honour for late former Inspector-General of Police, Dr Solomon Ehigiator Arase, CFR, NPM, fdc, FCIArb as the remains of the former IGP depart for Edo State.
“At the occasion, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, PhD, NPM described the late IGP as an officer with enviable strength of character.
“The Nigeria Police Force bids a poignant farewell to a distinguished national figure.”
