Nigeria fought really hard to emerge victorious over Rwanda in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Saturday 6 September, 2025 at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
The visitors held the Super Eagles to a goalless draw in the first 45 minutes with Nigeria goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, bagging a yellow card in the 25th minute.
Eric Chelle’s Super Eagles finally had breakthrough in the 50th minute through Wolverhampton Wanderers striker, Tolu Arokodare, to cart all three (3) points.
Galatasaray sharpshooter, Victor Osimhen, was replaced by Greek Club, Panathinaikos, forward, Curiel Desserts, early, in the 35th minute; and goalscorer, Arokodare, replaced Frank Onyeka in the 46th minute.
With this outcome, Nigeria are third in the Group C table with ten (10) points, Benin are second with eleven (11) points, South Africa are toppers with sixteen (16) points, while, Rwanda are fourth with eight (8) points.
