President Bola Ahmed Tinubu mourns Mrs. Leila Fowler, Founder of Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls, who passed at the age of ninety-two (92).
The President said, Mrs. Fowler’s “legacy lives on in the thousands of lives she transformed”, adding, Nigeria is grateful “for her remarkable impact”.
President Tinubu extended his “heartfelt” condolences to the Fowlers, and the Vivian Fowler Memorial College.
The President’s Condolence was conveyed in a State House Press Release signed by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Monday 8 September, 2025.
The State House Press Release reads: “President Bola Tinubu expresses sadness over the passing of Chief (Mrs.) Leila Euphemia Apinke Fowler, a lawyer, renowned educationist and founder of the Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls in Lagos.
“Fowler, the Yeye Mofin of Lagos and mother of Babatunde Fowler, former Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), died at 92.
“The President remarks: “Through establishing the Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls, the late Mrs. Fowler laid the foundation for academic excellence, nurturing generations of young women and empowering them to reach their fullest potential.
“”Her legacy lives on in the thousands of lives she transformed. The nation is grateful for her remarkable impact. She will be fondly engraved in our minds.”
“President Tinubu extends his heartfelt condolences to the Fowler family, friends, associates, the management and students of Vivian Fowler Memorial College, and the people of Lagos State.
“The President prays that Almighty God will grant her soul eternal repose and comfort all who mourn her passing.”
Mrs. Leila Fowler founded the Vivian Fowler Memorial College for Girls in January 1991. The school was named after her daughter who had passed.
Her husband, Vidal Fowler, passed in 2015
