A teenager who subjected two children to sexual assaults on the same day has bagged a jail term of five years.
The male youth, whose name cannot be published for legal reasons, was 15-years-old when he preyed on two girls in woodland in Dundee, Scotland on 10 February 2023.
The High Court in Edinburgh heard how he approached a 12-year-old girl and took her by the arm before executing a sexual assault.
The male teen also approached a 13-year-old girl and raped her.
Now 17 years old, he denied any wrongdoing, however, was earlier this year found guilty of charges of rape and sexual assault.
Following his conviction, Alistair Murray, Prosecutor, told judge Michael O’Grady KC that the accused had no convictions previously.
The youth went back to the dock for sentencing on Tuesday.
Jim Stephenson, Defence lawyer, told the court that his client had suffered negative childhood experiences.
Mr Stephenson ssid: “He has witnessed domestic abuse. He is a vulnerable person. He has shown a lack of maturity.”
Judge O’Grady, in his sentence, told the teen that he would be supervised by the authorities for three years following his release from custody.
“These assaults were cowardly, humiliating and cruel. These were wicked acts. The victims here are the girls – no one should lose sight of that”, the Judge said.
The youth has been placed on the register of sex offenders for life.
