President Faye launches National Ecological Caravan, to plant ‘1 million trees in 48 hours’

President of Senegal, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, has launched the National Ecological Caravan on Saturday 2 August, 2025.

Faye said, the move marks a “significant” step in his government’s environmental commitment as he launched the “1 million trees in 48 hours” Challenge.

President Faye posted on X: “By launching the National Ecological Caravan today from the classified Mbao forest, I wanted to mark a significant step in our environmental commitment.

“May every tree planted be a promise kept to future generations.

“It is in this spirit that I launched the “1 million trees in 48 hours” Challenge and called for a national mobilization to make the 2025 Reforestation Caravan a decisive ecological turning point for our country.”
