The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) met with the management and flight crew of Ibom Air; and passenger, Ms. Comfort Emmanson at its headquarters in Abuja following the Uyo-Lagos incident.
At the meeting, Chaired by Mr. Michael Achimugu, Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, the crew members, air hostess Juliana Edwards, who was reportedly assaulted while on duty, were granted fair hearing.
Ms. Emmanson, accompanied by her lawyer, met with the NCAA team and told her side of the story.
Via a statement titled ‘NCAA engages Ibom Air crew and passenger in unruly behaviour case’, on X, the NCAA made known: “The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, met with Ibom Air management and flight crew at its headquarters in Abuja.
“The meeting was chaired by the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mr. Michael Achimugu, and granted fair hearing to the crew members involved in the Uyo–Lagos incident, particularly air hostess Juliana Edwards, who was reportedly assaulted while on duty.
“On Thursday, August 21, 2025, at the NCAA Lagos Regional Office, passenger Comfort Emanson, accompanied by her lawyer, met with the NCAA team to present her side of the story.
“That meeting was chaired by Capt. Donald Spiff, Director of Operations, Licensing and Training, and was also attended by representatives from the Consumer Protection Office and Legal Department.
“While the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), has mediated and resolved the matter between the parties, the Authority will still review the submissions to a logical conclusion. This regulatory step ensures the system is strengthened, gaps are addressed, and safeguards put in place to prevent similar incidents in the future.”
