‘Insulting to our collective memory’ – Bashir Ahmad reacts after Peter Obi vows to serve one term of four years if elected President

Bashir Ahmad, former Special Adviser to Late President, Muhammadu Buhari, has expressed his sentiments following Peter Obi’s vow to serve just one term of four years if elected President of Nigeria.

Ahmad said, “this individual couldn’t fix a dot in a circle in two full tenures”, and he is now trying to make us believe he can “fix the entire circle in just one”.

The former Governor of Anambra has vowed, if he gets elected as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, he will not serve more than one term of four years.

Obi described his vow as “sacrosanct”.

Ahmad described Obi’s vow as an “insult to our collective memory”, however, he clarified, disagreeing with Peter Obi “politically” is not an “attack on his person and certainly not on his tribe”.

In his reaction on X, Bashir Ahmad said: “This individual, who couldn’t fix a dot within a circle after two full tenures, is now trying to convince us that he can fix the entire circle in just one. Isn’t that so insulting to our collective memory?

“Our brothers should understand that disagreeing with Mr. Peter Obi politically is not an attack on his person and certainly not on his tribe. Politics should never be seen as ethnic rivalry.

“We all know that PO is not the sole representative of his entire ethnic group. So, disagreeing with his political stance should not be translated as bigotry in any way.

“I recently met him, he is a good person and I genuinely respect him as a person. However, politically, we do not share the same views and directions and that should be perfectly okay and acceptable.”
