Governor Oborevwori begs for calm over reports of crisis between Itsekiris and Urhobos

The Executive Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, has appealed for calm following reports of “brewing” crisis between the Itsekiris and Urhobos in Warri South Local Government Area (LGA).

The Governor, who spoke through Sir Festus Ahon, his Chief Press Secretary, urged residents and stakeholders to eschew actions that can lead to disruption of peace, adding, “stability” is essential for the development of Warri.

Oborevwori pleaded with leaders of communities, youth groups, to make themselves active in the promotion of “unity and peaceful coexistence”, and assured, his administration is dedicated to “inclusive governance”.

According to the Delta State Government: “Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has appealed for calm over reports of a brewing crisis between Itsekiris and Urhobos in Warri South Local Government Area.

“In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, the Governor urged residents and stakeholders to shun actions capable of disrupting peace, stressing that stability is vital to unlocking Warri’s economic potential and sustaining development.

“He called on community leaders, youth groups, and opinion moulders to promote unity and peaceful coexistence, assuring that his administration remains committed to inclusive governance and equitable development across Delta State.”
