Cardi B denies scratching and spitting on security guard

A Court has heard from singer, Cardi B, that, she did not attack a security guard who is suing her for assault.

Emani Ellis is claiming the American rapper cut her cheek with a 3in (7.5cm) fingernail and spat on her during a brawl outside the office of an obstetrician in Los Angeles in 2018, leaving her “deeply traumatised”.

The ‘Be Careful’ singer told a civil trial on Tuesday that Ms Ellis had filmed and followed her against her will when she arrived for an appointment about a pregnancy that was not yet made known to the public.

Cardi B admitted she confronted Ms Ellis, however, denied assaulting her.

“I didn’t touch her. It was like a verbal fight, but it didn’t get physical at all”, the rapper said.

Cardi B told jurors that when she stepped out of an elevator, Ms Ellis, who was working in the building as a security guard, told someone on the phone that she was there, then trailed her down a hallway.

The ‘Point Me 2’ crooner continued, Ms Ellis appeared to record her on her phone, invaded her privacy and refused to “back up”, before a face-to-face “verbal altercation” happened.

Cardi B shouted at Ms Ellis, telling her to “get out of my face”, adding, “We’re literally screaming at each other.”

Earlier, Ms Ellis told the court she mentioned the rapper’s name due to excitement when she set her eyes on her, however, didn’t tell anyone she was there and didn’t film her.

Ms Ellis claims Cardi B accused her of trying to spread information about her visiting at the doctor’s office, then threw insults and threats, and attacked her.

After first examining her in 2022, a plastic surgeon said that he had medically attended toMs Ellis for a “hyper-sensitive” scar on her cheek, “most likely” caused by fingernails.

Ms Ellis sued Cardi B, whose real name is Belcalis Marlenis Almànzar, in 2020 for assault, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress, alongside, negligence and false imprisonment.
