Newly promoted Barau Football Club kicked off its Nigeria Premier Football League 2025/26 campaign with a goalless draw against Enyimba FC at Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, Kano State on Sunday 24 August, 2025.
Barau FC scaled through the Nigeria National League (NNL) Super 8 Play-offs to clinch promotion to Nigeria’s top tier football, NPFL.
Enyimba headed into the showdown after parting ways with twenty-two (22) of its players some days ago, including former Super Eagles striker, Brown Aide Ideye.
Some hours after departing the Aba based club, Ideye announced his retirement from professional football before taking a trip to London to cool his head.
