Official: Real Madrid and Benfica reach agreement for Spanish defender Álvaro Carreras

Real Madrid and Benfica have reached an agreement for the transfer of Spanish left-back, Álvaro Carreras, to Santiago Bernabeu.

Carreras will by under contract wih the Los Blancos for the next six seasons, until 30 June 2031.

Álvaro Carreras scaled through the Real Madrid youth academy, where he fielded between 2017 and 2020 in the youth categories.

The Spaniard moved to Portuguese side, Benfica, from Premier League club, Manchester United, after being named the English club’s best under-23 player of the 2021-22 season. As a Benfica player, he clinched this year’s Portuguese League Cup.

Álvaro Carreras’ unveiling is scheduled to take place on Tuesday 15 July, 2025 at Real Madrid City.

Florentino Perez, President of Real Madrid, will welcome the defender for the ceremony of the contract signing that will keep the new player at the club for the next six seasons.

Carreras will have his first press conference at the press room in Madrid city immediately after the signing ceremony.
