The Serbia international has become a part of Andoni Iraola’s side on a five-year deal.
AFC Bournemouth have completed the signing of Serbian shot stopper Djordje Petrovic from Chelsea on a five-year-contract.
The Cherries strengthen their goalkeeping options following the exit of Kepa Arrizabalaga, who made his way back to Stamford Bridge after a season-long loan before making a permanent transfer to Arsenal. Mark Travers, No 2 goalkeeper, also left Vitality Stadium this week to join Everton.
According to the Club’s official website, Petrovic said: “I’m really happy to be here. I came to Bournemouth because I want to grow and I want to play at the best level. Together with this club, with these facilities, I think we can achieve it. I want to help the team get the results, improve every day and be a better player.”
24-year old Petrovic spent the 2024/25 campaign on loan from Chelsea at French side, Strasbourg, where he recorded 31 appearances and kept 10 clean sheets, helping the Ligue 1 club end seventh and secure qualification for the UEFA Europa Conference League.
Petrovic’s saves made a massive difference to Strasbourg’s defensive numbers, also.
The Serbian emerged the goalkeeper with the most touches (1,736) and successful passes (1,117) in the 2024/25 season. On 2 February against Rennes, he had the most touches (79) and successful passes (64) by a Ligue 1 goalkeeper on record (since 2006/07).
He kicked off his professional career with Cukaricki, clinching 86 appearances before a transfer to Major League Soccer club New England Revolution in 2022.
On the international stage, Petrovic recorded his senior debut for Serbia in 2021 and has since earned seven caps.
