Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, commends Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja for “lifting the obnoxious suspension” of Senator representing Kogi Central Constituency, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
Senator has been serving a six-month suspension placed on her by the Ethics Committee of the Senate following her sexual harassment allegations against Godswill Akpabio, President of the Nigerian Senate.
The Court, however, fined Senator Natasha ₦5m for breaching the order that barred the parties from making public statements on the matter.
She was also ordered to release an apology on two national dialies.
Atiku wrote on X: “I commend Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court, Abuja, for the courage in lifting the obnoxious suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (Kogi Central).
“I also hail Sen. Akpoti-Uduaghan for challenging the illegality of her suspension by not sleeping on her rights in a chamber where women are already vulnerable. There’s no price that is too great in asserting one’s rights.”
