Governor Abiodun receive returnee prominent political figures from PDP into APC

Dapo Abiodun, Executive Governor of Ogun State, announced, he received some of the State’s most prominent political figures into the All Progressives Congress (APC), as they returned officially to the Progressives Family, on Wednesday 30 July, 2025.

Among the returnee politicians are: former Deputy Governorship Candidate of the PDP, Hon. Abiodun Akinlade; immediate past PDP State Chairman, Hon. Sikirulai Ogundele; and many others, Abiodun announced.

The Governor assured them of “full rights and mutual respects” as the effort to build a “stronger and more united” APC continues.

Governor Abiodun announced on X: “We gladly received some of Ogun State’s most prominent political figures into the All Progressives Congress (APC), as they officially returned to the progressive family. Among them are Hon. Abiodun Akinlade, former Deputy Governorship Candidate of the PDP and former APM Governorship Candidate; Hon. Sikirulai Ogundele, immediate past PDP State Chairman; Hon. Luqmon Atobatele, a serving member of the Ogun State House of Assembly; and many others including respected former office holders and party leaders.

“These leaders, along with thousands of their supporters from all 236 wards across the state, have joined us not just in declaration, but through genuine grassroots integration from the ward level upwards. Their decision to rejoin the APC is a reflection of their trust in our leadership and the inclusive, development-driven agenda we have pursued.

“We assured them of full rights, privileges, and mutual respect as we continue to build a stronger and more united party. Their return reinforces our shared commitment to advancing good governance and sustainable development across Ogun State.

“We welcome them wholeheartedly and look forward to the value they will bring as we continue working together in the interest of our people and our great state.”
