Former Super Eagles of Nigeria goalkeeper, Peter Rufai, has passed at the age of sixty-one (61).
The Super Eagles paid tribute to the Africa Cup Of Nations (AFCON) 1994 Winner following his demise.
Super Eagles wrote on X: “Forever in our hearts, Dodo Mayana.
“We mourn the passing of legendary Super Eagles goalkeeper, Peter Rufai, a giant of Nigerian football and a 1994 AFCON champion.
“Your legacy lives on between the sticks and beyond.
“Rest well, Peter Rufai.”
Rufai fielded for Go Ahead Eagles, Deportivo La Coruna, Farense among other clubs in The Netherlands, Spain, Portugal and Belgium; he represented Nigeria in two FIFA World Cups and as many Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.
