China said through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs Spox, Lin Jian, that BRICS is an essential “platform” which brings about “cooperation among emerging markets”, as well as, “developing countries”.
Jian is making this statement as the 17th BRICS Summit in the city of Rio De Janeiro, Brazil concludes on Monday 7 July, 2025; it started on Sunday 6 July, 2025.
The Chinese MFA Spox said, “we oppose trade wars and tariff wars”, adding, “arbitrary tariff hikes serve no one’s interests”.
Lin Jian said on X: “BRICS is an important platform for cooperation among emerging markets and developing countries, and a positive force in the world.
“It advocates openness, inclusiveness, and win-win cooperation. It is not a bloc for confrontation, nor does it target any country.
“We oppose trade wars and tariff wars. Tariffs should not be used as tools for coercion and pressure. Arbitrary tariff hikes serve no one’s interests.”
