Unity Cup 2025: NFF extends ‘heartfelt gratitude’ to fans for support to Super Eagles

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has extended its “heartfelt gratitude” to the “incredible” fans that converged in “full force” to support the Super Eagles of Nigeria to triumph at the Unity Cup in London, England.

Nigeria defeated West African neighbours, Ghana, by two (2) goals to one (1), before locking horns with Island country, Jamaica, in the final of the tournament to lift the trophy.

Following a 2-2 draw, Nigeria defeated Jamaica in the final 5-4 in a penalty shootout at the Gtech Community Stadium – home ground of Premier League outfit, Brentford – on Saturday 31 May, 2025.

The Nigerian football governing body said, “Your energy, passion, and patriotism helped us retain the trophy we first won in 2004”, adding, “we couldn’t have done it without you!”

Christantus Uche scored the winning penalty as Nigeria defeated Jamaica 5-4 in a penalty shootout to clinch the Unity Cup, defending the title they won 19 years ago.

The Unity Cup is an international football competition held in London.

Only four (4) teams from CAF and CONCACAF participate in the competition; Nigeria has emerged the current Champions after beating Jamaica. The West African country is the most successful team in the tournament with three (3) titles.

The competitors are countries with large diasporas in London.
