Uefa’s Technical Team said: “We picked these attackers to reflect PSG’s outstanding movement up front, which defined their style all tournament long. This forward line shows a flexible team with players constantly rotating positions.”

Donnarumma: He stood tall at Liverpool home ground, Anfield, in the penalty shootout, saving from Darwin Núñez and Curtis Jones to help PSG progress. The Italian goalkeeper then made a pair of superb saves at Villa Park against Aston Villa to make sure the Les Parisiens just about held off Unai Emery’s side’s second leg resurgence in the quarterfinals. However, perhaps his best work came against Arsenal after PSG shocked the Emirates with their swashbuckling start in the first leg.

Hakimi: The Morocco international was provided with plenty of freedom to move around during Enrique’s first season at the helm, with the Moroccan often drifting inside and crashing the box. His returns in the final third were similar from this season to last domestically, however, the defender attained new high levels in this competition.

Mendes: While Hakimi operated down the opposite flank, Mendes executed a crucial balancing move down PSG’s left. The Portuguese is very capable of affecting proceedings in attacking transition, as he proved at Villa Park, with his outstanding defensive work.

Dembele: There were several reasons which ultimately brought about PSG’s first Champions League triumph, however, one of the most essential was Enrique’s decision to utilise Ousmané Dembélé as a deceptive nine.

Rice: The English defensive midfielder’s slow and annoying start to the campaign meant the league phase somewhat passed him by, however, Rice turned it on in crunch time. He helped Mikel Arteta’s Gunners dominate PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands before making sure he’ll appear on every Champions League goal compilation by making light work of Real Madrid goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, with a pair of beautiful free-kicks.

The Arsenal midfield maestro impressed the UEFA Technical Observer Group with his stunning performances, most notably with two jaw-dropping free-kicks in the Gunners’ 3-0 triumph at the Emirates Stadium against Real Madrid in the first leg of the quarter-finals.
