Nigerian singer, Temilade Openiyi, professionally known as, Tems, has expressed her gratitude to the Billboard after being honoured at the inaugural Global Power Players Event.
The ‘Love Me Jeje’ singer carted home an award at the inaugural Billboard’s Global Power Players Event on Wednesday which held at Shoreditch House in east London, England.
Also honoured alongside Tems at the event include, Sir Elton John and EMPIRE founder and CEO Ghazi Shami.
Receiving the award, Tems said: “Being African and a musician is a whole new world and I feel like Billboard has been so supportive of not just African music but the whole scene and the culture.
“This has been a really great honour, especially given that African music is moving to heights that has never been seen before, and Billboard is one of the key players in moving that needle forward.”
EMPIRE boss Ghazi Shami and Sir Elton John were honoured with the Clive Davis Visionary Award and Creators’ Champion Award respectively.
Tems, Nigerian singer, songwriter, and record producer, is a multiple award-winning. She rose to fame after being featured on Wizkid’s 2020 single ‘Essence’.
The ‘Crazy Things’ singer has two (2) Grammy Awards, a Billboard Women in Music Award, four NAACP Image Awards, four BET Awards and three Soul Train Music Awards.
