Reno Omokri has come out to disagree with 2023 Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, after the latter said, “Tinubu has ruined our economy”.
Omokri said, the former Governor of Anambra State “failed woefully” in his business in the United Kingdom (UK) “and had to be struck off the books and dissolved by the British Government”.
He added, “but under Tinubu, both the bank, where he has about 10% shares, and his Next Supermarket are thriving.”
Reno Omokri wrote on X: “Please fact-check me: Peter Obi’s business failed woefully in the UK and had to be struck off the books and dissolved by the British Government. But under Tinubu, both the bank, where he has about 10% shares, and his Next Supermarket are thriving.”
Omokri said, Peter Obi’s bank performed very well under the Tinubu administration, with its profitability reaching “₦385.2 billion in the year ending December 2024”.
He added, that’s far more than the “₦124.3 billion” it reached in the year ending December, 2023.

He asked, if the Tinubu government has “ruined” Nigeria’s economy, as Obi said, “why has he not relocated to England to revive his dead business there?”
