Executive Governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has made known, “in the next 60 days” his government will welcome President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the groundbreaking ceremony of what will become the “largest cotton processing plant in the world”, to be planted in Ogun State.
The Governor said, the move is a part of the Renewed Hope Cutting Resurgence Initiative of our “indefatigable” President.
He said, it is a huge honour to share a “transformational development” which is about to take place in the Southwestern State.
The “landmark” project which is a public-private partnership “is designed to process 100 tons of cotton per hour, translating to over 1,000 tons per workday.”
It is projected to produce more than “4 million garments” per day.
Governor Abiodun said: “As part of the Renewed Hope Cutting Resurgence Initiative of our indefatigable President, His Excellency @officialABAT, GCFR, we are proud to share a transformational development that will soon take place in our dear State.
“In the next 60 days, we will be privileged to host Mr. President here in Ogun State for the groundbreaking ceremony of what will become the largest cotton processing plant in the world, to be sited in Ogun State. This landmark project, a Public-Private Partnership, is designed to process 100 tons of cotton per hour, translating to over 1,000 tons per workday. From raw cotton to finished garments, this facility is projected to produce over 4 million garments daily.”
The Cotton Processing Plant which is a “$2.5 billion investment” is expected to “directly employ 250,000 Nigerians and create countless indirect jobs across the cotton farming value chain”.
The initiative is focused on “repositioning of Nigeria as the number one cotton and garment hub, not just in Africa, but globally.”
Governor Abiodun added: “This $2.5 billion investment will directly employ 250,000 Nigerians and create countless indirect jobs across the cotton farming value chain through off-take agreements already signed with farmers in Ogun State and across the country. This initiative is not just about industrial growth—it is about economic empowerment, national pride, and the repositioning of Nigeria as the number one cotton and garment hub, not just in Africa, but globally.”
The Governor expressed excitement and readiness to “fully align” with President Tinubu’s vision, and made known his administration’s commitment to ensuring “Ogun State remains a beacon of progress”.
