Simone Inzaghi has been appointed head coach of Saudi Professional League side Al-Hilal, a day after leaving Italian Serie A club, Inter Milan.
The Italian manager has signed a two-year contract after leaving Inter on Tuesday 3 June, 2025.
Inzaghi takes over from Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus, who guided Al-Hilal to the Saudi Pro League title in 2023-24, however, was sacked last month after his team were knocked out of the Asian Champions League Elite semi-finals.
The former Italy and Lazio striker will manage a squad which consists of former Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo, ex-Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves and former Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic.
This week, a huge offer from Al Hilal was rejected by Manchester United Portuguese midfieder, Bruno Fernandes, as he wants to “play at the highest possible level”.
Brazillian forward Neymar parted ways with the club by mutual consent in January after recording seven (7) appearances in 18 months.
Reports by Italian media disclose, Inzaghi’s contract is worth up to 30m euros (£25.3m) per season.
Inzaghi’s first mission will be to lead the Club at the Club World Cup 2025 in the United States (US), where Al-Hilal is scheduled to lock horns with Spanish La Liga giants, Real Madrid, in their opening game in Miami on 18 June.
Simone Inzaghi guided Inter through the Uefa Champions League 2024/25 to the final where he lost horribly to PSG.
In the final of the Uefa Champions League 2024/25, French Ligue 1 side, Paris Saint-Germaine (PSG), made light work of Inter, winning by five (5) goals to nil (0) at Munich Football Arena, Munich, Bavaria on Saturday 31 May, 2025.
Moroccan defender, Achraf Hakimi, opened scoring for Luis Enrique’s young Les Parisiens, Desire Doue netted twice, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Senny Mayulu scored one each, helping PSG lift their first ever Uefa Champions League trophy.
Enrique finished the season with a treble, winning Coupe De France 2024/25, Ligue 1 2024/25 and the UCL 2024/25.
