English forward, Liam Delap, has completed his transfer to Chelsea Football Club from Ipswich Town.
The deal will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2031.
Chelsea announced with delight the transfer of Liam Delap from Ipswich Town, with the striker signing a contract for the next six (6) years.
Delap, England Under-21 international, netted 12 times in the Premier League during the 2024/25 campaign and was shortlisted for the Young Player of the Year award.
The striker said, he understands the stature of Chelsea, adding, Stamford Bridge will be an “incredible place” for his development, with hopes to achieve “amazing things” with the Blues.
He said, he has arrived with the mission to help Chelsea clinch more trophies.
Delap said: “I understand the stature of this club and can see the trajectory it is on with these players and the head coach. It’s going to be an incredible place for me to develop, and I hope to achieve amazing things here and help the club win more trophies.”
The Englishman kicked off his career in Derby County’s academy before moving to Manchester City in 2019. After a season with the club’s Under-18s, he climbed up to the Elite Development Squad, where he featured under current Blues head coach Enzo Maresca.
The striker enjoyed a beautiful campaign. He netted twenty-four (24) goals in twenty (20) Premier League 2 encounters, netted on his debut for City’s senior side in the League Cup, and was gifted his first top-flight appearance against Leicester City.
More first-team appearances followed during the 2021/22 campaign before he embarked on loan spells at Stoke City and Preston North End.
Delap was with Hull City all through the 2023/24 season and, after scoring eight (8) goals, secured a move to newly-promoted Ipswich Town.
The 22-year-old produced on the Premier League level, with twelve (12) goals netted for the Tractor Boys in thirty-seven (37) appearances.
Also, he has featured for England throughout the youth age groups, with his last caps coming from the Under-21s in March.
Ipswich Town, who featured in the Premier League 2024/25, have been relegated to the Championship, second tier of English football, after finishing 19th on the table with twenty-two (22) points.
Also, Leicester City and Southampton were relegated after finishing 18th with 25 points and 20th with 12 points respectively.
Liam Delap will wear shirt number 9.
