Spanish La Liga club striker, Robert Lewandowski, announced, he has resigned from featuring for the Poland National Team following “loss of trust” in the coach of the team.
Lewandowski, 36-year-old striker, has eighty-five (85) goals in 158 appearances for his country, however, is not part of his national team’s squad during the current international window.
The sharpshooter said, he is hopeful he will be able to field “for the best fans in the world again.”
Lewandowsi wrote on social media: “Considering the circumstances and the loss of trust in the coach of the Polish National Team, I decided to resign from playing in the Polish National Team until he is the coach. I hope that I will be able to play for the best fans in the world again.”
Coach Michal Probierz will attend a news conference where he will answer questions on Monday prior to Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier against Finland, and will be joined by Zielinski, 31.
52-year old Probierz took over managerial duties in September 2023 but his side concluded bottom of their group at Euro 2024 as they emerged the first country to be knocked out of the tournament.
Poland are however at the top of their World Cup 2026 qualifying group following two (3) victories from as many games, with Netherlands third on three points after one game.
