The distribution of the bags of fertiliser is taking place ahead of the wet farming season – a move that will definitely be of benefit to the farmers.

Governor Yusuf said on X: “As part of our commitment to advance agricultural development in Kano, I flagged-off the distribution of 3 trucks of fertiliser to each of the 44 Local Government Councils at a fifty percent (50%) discount.

“Each truck contains 600 bags of fertiliser, making a total of 79,200 bags to the 44 local government areas.

“This distribution is in preparation for this year’s wet farming season, a decision that will surely benefit the farmers.”

Access to farmland and irrigation facilities in the last two years have been expanded by the Kano State government, with new projects in eleven (11) Local Governments successfully awarded.

Governor Yusuf continued: “Over the last two years, we have expanded access to farmland and irrigation facilities. We have successfully rehabilitated major irrigation schemes, awarded new projects across 11 Local Governments, and brought over 1,250 hectares under development.

“The ongoing construction of a dam at Dansoshiya in Kiru LGA stands as a landmark in our quest for year-round farming, and there is no doubt that the fifty percent discount of the fertiliser will enhance food production, economic growth and food security.”
