The governing All Progressives Congress (APC) has welcomed Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, into the APC.
The ‘Broom’ Party expressed confidence that, Governor Eno’s “thoughtful decision” will bring about “greater progress” of the ‘Land Of Promise’, as well as, its people.
Governor Eno’s move to the APC was made known via a Press Statement titled ‘APC welcomes Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, into the Party’, signed by Felix Morka Esq., National Publicity Secretary of the APC on Friday 6 June, 2025.
APC said: “We are confident that his thoughtful decision, will inure to the greater progress of Akwa Ibom state and people.”
According to the Press Statement: “The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress (APC), under the leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, CON, is delighted at the news of the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Umo Eno’s decision to join our great Party.
“We are confident that his thoughtful decision, will inure to the greater progress of Akwa Ibom State and the people.
“Our great Party assures the Governor of its fullest cooperation and accommodation in the APC family, as we continue to grow the Party and work together towards the full realization of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the good and benefit of all Nigerians.”
Governor Eno’s decision to dump the ‘Umbrella’ Party is coming just few weeks after the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, left the PDP for the APC.
Governor Oborevwori; immediate former Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa; alongside all PDP members of Delta State, moved to the ruling Party.
Oborevwori said, his decision to hand Delta State to APC was for the benefit of the people of the South-South State.
The Delta State Governor was welcomed into the APC fold by the National Chairman of the Party, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, CON; the Vice President, Kashim Shettima; Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo; alongside APC Governors.
