Uefa Europa Conference League 2024/25 Champions, Chelsea, have refused to exercise their £25m obligation to sign Jadon Sancho permanently this summer.
The Blueswill pay a £5m penalty to Manchester United to get out of the obligation instead.
Sancho will go back to Manchester United at the end of June after being unable to reach personal terms for his extension with Chelsea.
The 25-year-old made the confirmation of his exit from Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night.
The English winger netted five (5) goals during a season-long loan at Stamford Bridge, including in last month’s Conference League final win over Real Betis.
Also, he recorded ten (10) assists for the Blues across all competitions.
There is interest in Sancho from clubs across Europe, and Sancho has one year remaining on his lucrative Manchester United contract, which is believed to be worth up to £300,000 a week.
After the deal for Liam Delap is sealed, Chelsea may also sign another forward. Hugo Ekitike and Benjamin Sesko are on their shortlist.
Sancho wrote: “Grateful for the experience. Big love to everyone at Chelsea who made me feel at home — teammates, staff and the fans.Wishing the club all the best moving forward. Truly grateful, Thank you Blues”
Chelsea came from the back to defeat Real Betis 4-1 in the Uefa Europa Conference League 2024/25 final at Tarczyński Arena in Poland on Wednesday 28 May, 2025.
Enzo Fernandez, Nicholas Jackson, Jadon Sancho and Moses Caicedo scored for Enzo Maresca’s Blues in the 65th, 70th, 83rd minutes and 1st minute of additional time respectively.
This outcome makes the Blues the first team to win all five Uefa club tournaments – the Champions League, Europa League, Conference League, Super Cup and the defunct Cup Winners’ Cup.
