At his interview after being welcomed officially to the club, Bayern Munich new addition, Jonathan Tah, has said manager, Vincent Kompany, “can give me a lot and help me grow and improve”.
German defender, Tah, is joining Bayern Munich from Bayer Leverkusen after helping the Black and Reds clinch the Bundesliga 2023/24.
The 29-year old put pen to paper to field for the Bavarians for four (4) years; he will feature for Vincent Kompany’s side in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 in the United States (US).
On joining Bayern Munich, Tah said, “I’m really glad I’m here”, adding, he felt the “positive togetherness during the medical”.
Prior to his decision to move to Allianz Arena, after declining to renew his Leverkusen contract, Tah received interests from Premier League clubs, as well as, Spanish La Liga clubs.
At his interview, posted on the Club’s official X account, Tah said:
First Impressions
“I’m really glad I’m here. I was given a very warm welcome. I feel this familial and positive but also hungry togetherness. I already felt it during the medical.”
Preferred Position
“We played with a back four at Leverkusen from time to time, most often against Bayern, I believe. It was in the centre in a back three, in a back four it doesn’t matter if it’s right or left.”
On Coach Vincent Kompany
“I followed him of course, I’m from Hamburg. He was a great leader and player. I’ve realised from the start he can give me a lot and help me grow and improve. The impression has been superb so far, and I’m looking forward to the time with him.”
Bayern Munich Board Member for Sport, Max Eberl, said, the Club is pleased to have the German defender, adding, Tah has been on the Club’s radar for a long time.
