Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, has responded to the Joint Statement by the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom (UK), Keir Starmer; President of France, Emmanuel Macron; and Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney, calling for the State of Israel to lift its siege on Gaza.
Starmer, Macron and Carney, in their joint statement, expressed their frets “on the situation in Gaza and West Bank”, calling for Israel to allow humanitarian aid into the region.
A portion of the joint statement says: “we strongly oppose the expansion of Israel’s military operations in Gaza. The level.of human suffering in Gaza is intolerable. Yesterday’s announcement that Israel will allow a basic quantity of food into Gaza is wholly inadequate. We call on the Israeli government to stop its military operations in Gaza and immediately allow humanitarian aid to enter Gaza. This must include engaging with the UN to ensure a return to delivery of aid in line with humanitarian principles. We call on Hamas to release immediately the remaining hostages they have so cruelly held since 7 October, 2023.”
In his response following the joint statement, PM Netanyahu said on X (@netanyahu): “They want to annihilate the Jewish people, who have been in the Land of Israel for 3,500 years.
“I could never understand how this simple truth evades the leaders of France, Britain, Canada and others. They are now proposing to establish a Palestinian state and reward these murderers with the ultimate prize.
“I say to President Macron, Prime Minister Carney and Prime Minister Starmer, you’re on the wrong side of justice. You’re on the wrong side of humanity and you’re on the wrong side of history.”
