Nottingham Forest has confirmed that Nigerian striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, has undergone “urgent surgery” after picking up an abdominal injury in the Premier League match against Leicester City on Sunday 11 May, 2025.
The top flight encounter which ended 2-2 had Nottingham Forest clinch its spot in next season’s Uefa European Competition; Leicester City are already relegated to the English second tier, Championship, even before the Sunday clash at City Ground.
Via a statement, Nottingham Forest (X/@NFFC), said: “The Club can confirm Taiwo Awoniyi has undergone urgent surgery following an abdominal injury sustained during Sunday’s match against Leicester City.
“Everyone at Nottingham Forest sends their best wishes to Taiwo.
“The Club will provide further updates when appropriate.”
