Ivorian winger, Amad Diallo, has emerged winner of Manchester United’s 2024/25 Goal of the Season award, presented by Tezos.
The Ivory Coast international finished top of the public poll, with more of fans voting for his clinching effort in December’s Manchester derby than any of the other nine (9) nominated strikes.
Amad, no.16, displayed beautiful composure to control a raking pass from defender, Lisandro Martinez, before edging past Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson and rolling the ball into the net from a tight angle.
It sealed a late turnaround for the Manchester United, who were behind at the Etihad Stadium, however, were inspired by Bruno Fernandes’s 88th-minute equaliser from the penalty spot, earned by Amad when he was fouled by Matheus Nunes.
United’s 2024/25 Premier League season has been heavily disappointing, but, it’s good to see Amad recognised, as he has been one of United’s standout performers this campaign under manager, Ruben Amorim, who moved to Old Trafford from Portuguese club, Sporting Lisbon.
Amad is now the 15th winner of the award since it was created in 2005/06 as he succeeds team-mate Alejandro Garnacho.
Mason Mount and Kobbie Mainoo finished second and third respectively in the poll.
