The Torch of Unity has arrived in Ogun State, host State of the National Sports Festival 2024, as the Gateway Games 2024 kicks off today, Friday 16 May, 2025.
The Games will conclude on May 30, 2025.
The Torch of Unity was first lit by President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu “in a powerful demonstration of his commitment to youth development and national sportsmanship”, marking the official opening of the 22nd National Sports Festival.
The symbolic flame which travelled all through the country was “warmly” received by the government and people of Ogun State.

“The Torch of Unity, first lit by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in a powerful demonstration of his commitment to youth development and national sportsmanship, has now arrived in Ogun State, marking the official commencement of the 22nd National Sports Festival, proudly themed Gateway Games 2024. The symbolic flame, which has journeyed across the federation, was warmly received by the government and people of Ogun State. Its arrival in the capital city of Abeokuta signals not only the beginning of the much-anticipated festival but also a renewed commitment to unity, excellence, and youth empowerment through sports.
