FA Cup 2024/25: Crystal Palace 1-0 Manchester City – Eze scores to help Eagles lift first ever major trophy

Oliver Glasner praised Crystal Palace’s first ever major trophy as attacking midfielder, Eberechi Eze, fired the Eagles to a dramatic 1-0 triumph over Manchester City in the FA Cup final on Saturday 17 May, 2025 at Wembley Stadium.

Palace put an end to their long wait for silverware and qualified for the Europa League when Eze netted in the 16th minute before goalkeeper Dean Henderson escaped a red card for handball and then saved Egyptian forward, Omar Marmoush’s penalty in an action-loaded first 45 minutes.

Palace’s goal in the 53rd minute by D. Muñoz was ruled out by VAR.

In his post-victory comments, Crystal Palace manager, Glasner said: “To be honest, I can’t really believe it – when you play this game 10 times, you win it once, and this happened today.

“The goal was the first time we were in their half and then we just defended with every single part of the body. I’m really proud of the team and the whole staff. All the credit to them. When you always stick together and support each other, you deserve it. It’s a special win for our fans.”
