China has responded with increased additional tariffs to 84% on products imported from the United States (US) into the Asian country.
This move is coming following tariff hikes on Chinese products by the United States (US), and will take effect from Thursday 10 April, 2025
President of the United States (US), Donald Trump, slammed countries across the world with ‘Reciprocal Tariffs’ including, China, Nigeria, the European Union (UN), United Kingdom (UK), South Africa among others.
According to XinhuaNet (news.cn):
China will lift the additional tariffs on products imported from the United States to 84 percent, effective from 12:01 p.m. Thursday, the Customs Tariff Commission of the State Council announced Wednesday.
The announcement follows the U.S. decision to raise the “reciprocal tariffs” on Chinese imports from 34 percent to 84 percent, a move that is “going further down the wrong path and seriously infringes on China’s legitimate rights and interests,” according to the commission.
