Ollie Watkins inspired Aston Villa to a beautiful win over Newcastle United in the race for Europe with a goal and an assist in a 4-1 victory.
Villa recorded their fifth consecutive league victory to lift them into sixth and two points behind third-placed Newcastle.
Recently Marcus Rashford had been preferred up front, however, Watkins, handed his first start in four games, proved his point by netting inside the opening 33 seconds, but, Eddie Howe’s Magpies levelled through Fabian Schär in the 18th minute.
Ian Maatsen scored for the Villans in the 64th minute, defender Dan Burn found the back of his work net to gift Unai Emery’s side the third in the 73rd minute and Amadou Onana sealed victory in the 75th minute.
Aston Villa are 6th with 57 points, while Newcastle United are 3rd with 59 points.
