Pope Francis Passes At 88: Mortal remains of Holy See carried into the Vatican Basilica

The mortal remains of Pope Francis are carried into the Vatican Basilica as thousands gathered in the square to pay their respects to the late Pope.

Pope Francis, Head of the Catholic Church and Sovereign of the Vatican City State, passed on Easter Monday, 21 April, 2025 at the age of eighty-eight (88).

According to Vatican News: “The mortal remains of Pope Francis are carried up the steps of St. Peter’s Basilica and into the Vatican Basilica.

“The Rite of Translation from the Casa Santa Marta was led by members of the College of Cardinals present in Rome, and over 20,000 people gathered in the square to pay their respects to the late Pope.”
