Musk’s statement is coming as a response to a tweet by @chamath which says: “The CBO reported recently that the Navy is planning to spend $40B per year for the next 30 years (or $1.2T) for 364 ships or ~$3B per ship.
It may be the case that the Navy, if they wanted, could spend a fraction of this for 10k+ armed drones to blanket the world instead.”
Elon Musk quoted @chamath ‘s tweet and commented: “American weapons programs need to be completely redone.
The current strategy is to build a small number of weapons at a high price to fight yesterday’s war.
Unless there are immediate and dramatic changes made, America will lose the next war very badly.”
