It was James Maddison who just returned from injury that netted the early and only goal of the game for Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs in the 13th minute to pile more pressure on Ruben Amorim’s side.
The Reds had chances to equalize with Alejandro Garnacho lofting an effort over the bar when through on goal in the first half.
Tottenham are now 12th in the table with 30 points, moving above United.
United are 15th with 29 points, 12 points above the relegation zone.
