Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, has made it known, he is uncertain about sharpshooter, Erling Braut Haaland’s fitness ahead of the English top flight clash against Liverpool on Sunday.
The Spanish boss said, “I don’t know yet” whether the Norwegian will be available for the Sunday evening encounter.
Guardiola gears up to face Liverpool on Sunday 23 February, 2025 in the Premier League match at Etihad Stadium; this is coming after the ousting of the Cityzens from the Uefa Champions League 2024/25 by Spanish Kings, Real Madrid, in the knockout play-off.
Carlo Ancelotti guided the Los Blancos to a 6-3 aggregate victory over the Cityzens; 3-2 in the first leg in England, and 3-1 in the second leg in Spain, where French forward, Kylian Mbappe a beautiful hat-trick.
At his press conference ahead of the clash against Liverpool, Guardiola said:
On Haaland’s fitness:
“I don’t know yet. Tomorrow we will know.”
On John Stones:
“He is injured. It’s a difficult one. In the next days, we will know if he needs surgery or not.”
On qualifying for next season’s Champions League:
“This period in the Premier League is now massively important for us. We need to try and qualify next season for [the Champions League].”
On Omar Marmoush:
“Salah already has done [it] for many years in the toughest league in the world, and now Omar is coming here to prove himself. Omar has done unbelievable in Germany. His performance will dictate the level.”
