Edo State: Governor Okpebholo ‘heartbroken’ after visiting two ‘dilapidated’ school building in Benin

Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, has expressed his heartbreak after visiting two (2) “dilapidated” school buildings in Benin.

Okpebholo said, “during my campaign, I promised to rebuild our schools and give our children the foundation they deserve”, adding, “these visits reaffirm my commitment to that promise”.

According to Governor Okpebholo: “Today, I visited two schools in Benin and was heartbroken by the state of their dilapidated buildings. No child should have to learn in such conditions—it’s a painful reality we must change and a reminder of why we must prioritize education.


During my campaign, I promised to rebuild our schools and give our children the foundation they deserve. These visits reaffirm my commitment to that promise. We will immediately begin assessing these schools and ensuring the necessary steps are taken to restore them. Together, we will create a brighter future for every child in Edo State.”

Today, I visited two schools in Benin and was heartbroken by the state of their dilapidated buildings. No child should have to learn in such conditions—it’s a painful reality we must change and a reminder of why we must prioritize education.
