Building Collapse in Oyo State: ‘Ten persons lost their lives, five rescued alive’ – NEMA

A ‘Situation Report’ by National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), on the collapse of a building in Jegede, Oyo State, disclosed, “ten persons lost their lives and five persons were rescued alive.”

Situation Report of building collapse at Jegede in Oyo State

NEMA South-West Zonal Office on 31st October, 2024. received a distress alert of a building collapse at JEGEDE in Ona Ara Local Government Area in Oyo State. The Zonal Coordinator Mr kadiri Olanrewaju activated the Emergency Response Team and other Stakeholders to the scene of incident. with the combine effort of response Stakeholders five (5) persons were rescued alive, which includes One (1) Adult Male, Two (2) Adult Female and Two (2) Children were rescued from the rubbles. They were moved to MERCYLAND CLINIC AND MATERNITY CENTRE for immediate medical care. Unfortunately, Ten (10) persons lost their lives in the incident.

  Stakeholders present at the scene includes: 

• NEMA

• SEMA

• NPF

• NSCDC

• LEMC

• Oyo State Fire Service 

  One Adult victim has been discharged from the hospital while one victim was unconscious and had been transferred to Adeoyo General Hospital at Temetu, Ibadan. Search and Rescue operations have been concluded and the scene cordoned for further action
