The Governor made the statement re-dedication service for the commencement of the 2024/2025 legal year at St. Paul’s Cathedral, Diobu.
The service was followed with a special Court session at the State High Court Complex for the ceremonial Court session to commence the legal year.
According to Governor Fubara: “Earlier today, we attended the re-dedication service for the commencement of the 2024/2025 legal year at St. Paul’s Cathedral,Diobu, which followed with a special Court session at the State High Court Complex for the ceremonial Court session to commence the legal year.
“It was an opportunity to appreciatively commend the doggedness of members of the bench and bar in our State Judiciary and their firm stand on justice, fairness and equity.
“Although there have been challenges that include attacks from opposition, intimidation & frivolous petitions against judicial officers but in all, our Judiciary has remained undaunted & focused at improving the quality of justice delivery & devt. of our State. I say kudos to them
“As a government, we are alive to our constitutional responsibility to the State judiciary. Since my assumptuon, we have done a lot to honour legal commitments to create a conducive environment for the judiciary to thrive.
“We have respected and will continue to respect the autonomy and independence of the judiciary as a separate arm of government.”
