Katz made the statement as he “discussed key issues” with Italian Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani.
Both discussed about “efforts to free all hostages from Hamas captivity and our fight against Hezbollah in Lebanon.”
Yahya Sinwar was eliminated by Israel Defence Forces (IDF) on Thursday 17 October, 2024 in Gaza.
According to Katz: “I met today with my friend, Italian Foreign Minister @Antonio_Tajani. We discussed key issues, including efforts to free all hostages from Hamas captivity and our fight against Hezbollah in Lebanon. With Sinwar’s elimination, a new opportunity has opened for a new hostage deal.
We discussed the necessary changes to UNIFIL’s mandate to make it more effective in confronting Hezbollah. I emphasized that @UNIFIL_ must adapt to be part of the solution in Lebanon’s future.
Now, with Hezbollah weakened, we have a real opportunity for positive change in Lebanon, and the free world must work together to push back Iran’s influence in the region.
We will continue to work together.”
