This decision is coming following Libya government’s “disgraceful behaviour” towards the Nigeria players and officials who landed in the country for the second leg of their AFCON 2025 qualifier.

The match which was scheduled to be played on 15 October, 2024 was cancelled after Skipper of the Super Eagles, William Troost-Ekong, said, “we will not play this game” following Libya airport officials “disgraceful behaviour” against Nigeria.

In one of its decisions, CAF said, “Libya Football Federation was found to have breached Article 31 of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup Of Nations regulations as well as Articles 82 and 151 of the CAF Disciplinary Code.”
