Polish striker, Robert Lewandowski, netted a brace to open scoring for the visitors in the 20th and 35th minutes, and through Ayoze Perez, Villarreal pulled one back in the 38th minute.
Pablo Torre made it three for the Catalans in the 58th minute, and Raphinha sealed victory with a brace in the 74th and 83rd minutes.
Barcelona remain toppers with 18 points after winning six out of six, and are trailed by Real Madrid, defending champions, by 4 points.
